You are welcome to the Drupal Nigeria Initiative, hosted here (www.drupalnigeria.com). The Drupal Nigeria Initiative is a dynamic front for the Drupal Open Source CMS in Nigeria. The major objective of this Initiative and Project, is to push the frontiers of Drupal and the Open Source, in Nigeria. With Drupal proving to be the one of the best Open Source CMS's and its out-of-the-box ability to create almost any kind of website, it becomes a quickly agreeable choice for web development.
The initiative therefore seeks to promote this fact and make Drupal the most popular web development package in use in Nigeria. Along side this, it will seek to create a large incentive to Drupal and Open Source coding. This will be achieved by offering cash prizes for fresh (open source) coding amongst Computer Science students at various levels. By this it will be encouraging students to develop software that can be modified by its end users.
The Coding-for-Cash Programme of Drupal Nigeriais planned to be launched at the beginning of the long vacation holidays of Universities and under graduates in Nigeria. A formal annoucement to this effect will be made in the due course of time. At which time also the Cash Prize for the best codes and coders, will be announced.
In the most part, the ONLY way such an Initiative, Community and Programme can make well, is if we are all able to come together and bring our friends and colleagues along to make th community a solid one.
The Drupal Nigeria Initiative and its activities are presently funded by the profits of Living Portals & Systems, an ICT Company based in Umuahia, Abia State, Nigeria.
