All over the world, thousands of people and businesses have benefited immensely from the Open Source Initiative as well as from the Drupal Open Source variant. An equally large number of folks who have benefited in this regard, have committed them selves to the Open Source Community, and have lent their commitment and support to the community. The volume of membership and support within these communities has given these initiatives their greatest strengths. For the most part, those who have remained active in the support communities have done so as a personal response to the benefits they have gained from the Software.
For The Drupal Nigeria Initiative (TDNI), the story is not any different. Having benefited immensely from the open source software and its highly supportive community, a group of Nigerians have come together to build and develop this project, which has the primary objectives of pushing the frontiers of the Award-Winning Drupal Open Source CMS in Nigeria and bringing Nigerians, especially Compute/Software Students and Practitioners. It further seeks to enhance the awareness of the Nigerian Web Development Community on the use and development of Open Source Software and Coding, with specially focus on Drupal.
The Drupal Nigeria Initiative seeks to create avenues of increasing awareness and use of the Drupal Open Source CMS and Open Source Coding and Development. It is our firm belief that Nigerians are a great people and that while we are still developing in other areas of life and our economy, the area of Open Source Software Development is one other sure way of making a great entrance and appearance on the World scene.
The Drupal Nigeria Initiative Project is hosted online at www.DrupalNigeria.Com. Membership is open and FREE! The main thrust of the Initiative is driven by our Members and Partners.
With a strong and loud voice and gesture, we beckon on fellow Nigerians and indeed citizens of the world to join together and make this happen. There is no gain-saying the fact that this Initiative can NEVER be realized by any one individual. It must become a collective project and responsibility of ALL. We therefore implore you to invite your friends, colleagues and partners to join forces with us as we chart the course of this new Project. All hands must be on deck to achieve this.
In this book, we have put together all the introductory information about Drupal and The Drupal Nigeria Initiative. A lot of the content is revised material from other information sources. What we have simply done is to reproduce the same material in an easy to read and understand format for members. Some of the English has been revised to make it more readable for members. We will continue to add content to the book from time-to-time.
We are amenable to any new ideas suggestions and proposals that will move the main stream of our objectives. You may email same to anyanwu@drupalnigeria.com and we will be glad to deal with you.
Once again, Welcome!
